Hibernian Aviva Health Xpress Med is our pioneering alternative to A & E. It is an easily accessible, walk in one-hour service for minor illnesses and injuries led by hospital emergency department consultants and delivered by them or by suitably qualified Registrars and Emergency Nurses.

Hibernian Aviva Health Xpress Med deals with many of the conditions dealt with in A & E but as we do not treat severely ill and injured patients our consultants, doctors and nurses can focus solely on minor injuries and illnesses thus allowing the service to be provided within one hour of arrival.

We deal with the majority of illnesses presenting to A & E; fractures, cuts, sports injury, falls as well as acute illness. In many instances these conditions require diagnostic imaging which is available on site. Xpress Med users who have health insurance can avail of insurance cover as provided for any necessary imaging. This means less waiting and in most cases having treatment delivered over a single visit.

Conventional A & E departments are designed to deal with acute and serious illness. They provide an excellent standard of care for acutely ill patients and have the support of an entire hospital to assist them deal with complex medical complaints. Patients with severe illness and injury therefore should present to their nearest emergency department for treatment.
